There are still some fantastic movies you could see at the theater this summer if you haven’t been yet. This weekend saw the release of several highly anticipated films, including “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie.” Here are the top five films of the summer that you shouldn’t miss.
Oppenheimer
The film depicts J. Robert Oppenheimer, the atomic bomb’s creator, as he struggles to come to terms with the weight of his creation. According to Common Sense Media, there are multiple sexually explicit scenes in the movie. Infidelity, extensive violence, and nudity are also common.
Oppenheimer has been included in the top picks for best picture by Variety. According to The Hollywood Reporter, writer-director Paul Schrader has been quoted as saying that the film is not only one of the best of the summer but one of the best of the century.
However, Oppenheimer was called Nolan’s “most adult movie yet” by ScreenRant. ‘Some sexuality, nudity, and language’ is what earned it a rating from Collider. On Friday, the movie hit the big screen.
The Haunted Mansion?
Although the mansion may be haunted, audiences can still anticipate a hilarious film. Tiffany Haddish, Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Owen Wilson all make appearances. A mother and son who live in a large house suspect it is haunted and enlist a motley crew to help them rid the house of its evil spirit. The content is suitable for those 13 and up On July 28th, the film will be released to the public.
Barbie
Greta Gerwig is giving life to Mattel’s iconic Barbie doll, which is one of America’s most beloved toys.
The film “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, tells the story of Barbie as she adjusts to life outside of Barbie Land. In Barbie’s case, that means donning a pair of Birkenstocks.
The world-building, humor, and abundance of pink in “Barbie” have earned it praise from critics and audiences alike. Entertainment Weekly’s Devin Coggan even called it “the blockbuster of the summer.” It has a PG-13 rating.

‘The Hill’
Look no further than “The Hill” for an end-of-summer feel-good sports film.
The film “The Hill,” starring Dennis Quaid, Colin Ford, and Joelle Carter, chronicles Rickey Hill’s arduous path to professional baseball. The film examines tenacity and resilience through the lens of Hill’s disability, which hinders his ability to play. Hill’s father (played by Quaid) puts strain on family ties by pressuring his son to follow his own career path.
The teaser suggests the movie will be a classic in the genre of inspirational movies.

A Sequel to “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”
There will be a third installment of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.”
Nia Vardalos is directing her third film in this franchise. There will be plenty of laughs, family bonding, and love triangles as the Portokalos family travels back to Greece for their annual family reunion. On September 8th, it will be released to theaters.
