In addition to being a great, typical Wisconsin Northwoods location, Cable is also a location with a ton of outdoor activities, including hiking trails, kayaking, and more. It is a cross-country skiing paradise in the winter.
6. Boulder Junction, North Wisconsin
A town called Boulder Junction gives the impression of being far from Wisconsin. There are kilometers of forests and lakes, making the environment here simply spectacular. One of the state’s best-kept secrets is the nearby Fallison Lake.
7. Tomahawk
Tomahawk, a haven for nature lovers, is the location of the Bearskin and Hiawatha State Trails. Rail beds were modified to make these paths. The railroad line was created to ship white pine logs from the forests of northern Wisconsin to the cities of the Midwest, according to the DNR website.
With compacted granite as its surface, the trail is now a recreational corridor that may be used for snowmobile in the winter and walking and bicycling in the summer. There are numerous waterfalls and rapids to discover in the area because of the rush of the Pike, Thunder, Peshtigo, and Menominee Rivers.
