For both Americans and foreigners, Florida is a well-liked travel destination. What is there to do in Florida except theme parks? is the second most frequent question I hear from people who have lived here for more than twenty years, right after “Are there gators in the lakes?” Although many people’s favorite travel choices are road trips to the Florida Keys or Miami, Central Florida still has a lot to offer.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the Kennedy Space Center are just a few of the customary locations covered in this trip.
Best Places to Visit in Central Florida
All of these are things we are well aware of, but central Florida is home to a lot more than just its well-known tourist attractions. The 10 Best Theme Parks in Florida To Visit list has information on these, though.
You can use this information to make a decision from among the different accommodations available in Florida. There are also a lot of unique activities in Central Florida; here are some of my favorites that I frequently suggest:
1. Rainbow River
The crown treasure of Central Florida is this spring-fed river, also known as “KP Hole” at times. The springhead at Rainbow River Springs feeds the six-mile river run, which is renowned for its crystal-clear blue water and tubing.
Any sort of watercraft, whether propelled or not, can be used to travel down the river, but most people choose to float.
2. Beach Fort Island
Most people think of South Beach, Daytona Beach, or Clearwater when you mention Florida’s beaches. On Florida’s west coast, Fort Island Beach is a place that hardly anyone has heard of.
Anyone who enjoys a day at the beach will find something special at Ford Island Beach. Few visitors, no crowds, lovely white sand, and crystal-clear water.
3. Fallen Angel Spring
Springs in Florida are renowned. There are 700 springs throughout the state. The Devil’s Den, on the other hand, is unique and peculiar.

You must have the courage to descend the ancient stone stairs to this spooky spring underneath since you have no idea what is waiting for you there.
4. Disney Amphicars
Did you know that there are vehicles capable of moving through water? I am aware that this is absurd, but it is true. A German designer named Hans Trippel had the original idea to create vehicles that could go on land and then transform into “amphibians,” or water vehicles.
At Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, you can ride them. Only here may the general public board a ship and travel with a captain.
5. The Amazing House
A trip to central Florida wouldn’t be complete without learning about its past. Florida is known for its amusement parks and beaches, but it is also home to numerous homes that are full of fascinating tales.
Conrad Schuck built The Wonder House, which is located in Bartow, Florida. Conrad was of German descent, and there were many rumors that he was a spy.
During World War II, he was detained for three days and then freed after being arrested. In the end, the FBI released a press release stating that Conrad Schuck was not a German spy and that he was not a spy.
6. The Weeki Wachee Mermaids
Everyone loves mermaids, right? Additionally, you don’t need to visit Disney to view one. In actuality, Weeki Wachi’s mermaids are far more stunning.
Located near Weeki Wachee Springs, a state park that has live mermaids and is rather well-known in Florida. Buccaneer Bay and Buccaneer Bay Water Park are both located within the park.

Florida’s mermaid performances are elaborate productions with a plot, characters, dancing, and singing. Every day, there are three shows. And since it’s included in your entrance, you can watch all three if you want to.
7. Winery Lakeridge
Although everyone identifies wine with California, there are lesser-known wineries all around the country. Despite being hot and muggy, Florida is home to a winery that makes its own brand of wine. This winery is not your typical out-of-state winery. This winery and vineyard are in full swing.
8. Resort and Rodeo at Westgate River Ranch
At Westgate River Ranch Resort, some customs, including the Rodeo, continue. A genuine competition rodeo is held every Saturday! Tickets are a great value at $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
9. Dome House at Cape Romano
This mansion, which is adjacent to Marco Island, has a very rich history, and in order to see its remains, you must enter the water.
Developed in 1980 by the now-deceased former oil producer Bob Lee. The self-sufficient solar-powered dome dwellings began as a fantasy getaway property.
The 2,400-square-foot marvel was made up of six interconnected dome constructions. There were three bedrooms and three bathrooms in the residence.
10. The Crystal River
There is a coastal community on Florida’s west coast that is well-known for its manatee population. Finding a manatee on the Crystal River is as certain as spotting fish in the sea since they are all over the place.
Although it is illegal to approach or harass a manatee, the Crystal River is the only area in the United States where it is permitted to swim alongside manatees.
Conclusion
From Tampa to Daytona Beach, Central Florida is the region in the center of the Sunshine State. While the majority of visitors will go to Orlando, there are a ton of other things to see and do if you travel further into Central Florida.
I’ve spent years discovering the natural splendor and attractions that Central Florida has to offer as a local.
