The Austrian and Italian TV series Kommissar Rex was the source material for the Canadian police program Hudson & Rex. It first aired on Citytv on March 25, 2019. It has been made in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, since October 2018 and is still going strong. On May 30, 2019, Shaftesbury and Pope Productions picked up Citytv for a second season. The show will return for the 2019-2020 program year.
On September 24, 2019, the second season began. January 5, 2021, was the first day of Season 3. The actors said that filming for season four has been approved and will begin soon after the premiere of season three’s last show on April 20, 2021.

Hudson and Rex Season 6 Plot
Charlie Hudson works for the made-up St. John’s Police Department and looks into serious crimes. Hudson wanted to be a police officer because he became hooked on spy stories when he was young. Police Officer Grace Lindsay, his K9 partner, was killed while looking for a thief. He was then paired with Rex and saved from certain death.
In every episode, Detective Hudson depends on Rex’s keen hearing and smell to help with his investigation. As in every episode, Superintendent Donovan, Forensics Chief Truong, and IT Specialist Mills all help the two with their story.
The first season starts with Hudson having come back to his hometown of St. John’s after getting divorced. As the first show starts, someone is taken hostage. A lot of the time, each show is about a different murder with its own twist. Hudson and Rex’s first work together is shown in the first episode of Season 3.
