Peter Thomas Scolari (September 12, 1955 – October 22, 2021) was an American actor. Between 1980 and 1982, he played Henry Desmond on Bosom Buddies. From 1984 to 1990, he played Michael Harris on Newhart. And from 1997 to 2000, he played Wayne Szalinski on Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show.
Scolari won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2016 for his recurring part as Tad Horvath on Girls. He was nominated for three Emmys for his work on Newhart.

Arthur and Barbara (née Fay) Scolari gave birth to Scolari in New Rochelle, New York. He grew up in Scarsdale with an older sister and two younger brothers. His dad was from Italy and played baseball in a semi-professional league before he became a lawyer.
Before she met Scolari’s father, his mother was a singer. After they got married, she worked for the Tidewater Psychiatric Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in the Alcohol Rehabilitation arm. Scolari told the Toronto Star that his father was a “rageful man” who abused him emotionally and that his mother had a hard time with drinking. Scolari also said that his parents “stayed together for the kids and because they were deeply in love with each other, but they were a terrible match.”
