Ed Sheeran has broken a lot of records on Spotify over the past few months. As of press time, even his older hits like “Shape of You” had gotten billions of streams. After he released “=” (Equals) last year, his popularity went up even more, and he kept his spot on the music streaming service.
But as more albums came out from other acts around the world, Sheeran lost his top spot and was replaced.
ChartMasters just updated their list of the most-played acts on Spotify. Sheeran just got beat by a rapper, which surprised everyone.
1. Drake
As of March 2022, Drake has 45 billion lead streams, making him the most popular singer on Spotify. His latest accomplishments, like being named Hip-Hop Artist of the Year at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards and being named by Forbes as the fourth highest-paid rapper of 2021, have put his songs back on top.
2. Ed Sheeran
The projected number one is now in second place with 34 billion lead streams. His recent legal fight with Sami Chokri and Ross O’Donoghue, who say that the song “Shape of You” hurt the singer’s position on the list, is an example.
3. Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio and who is a rapper and singer, got the third spot before his World’s Hottest Tour in August 2022. He has 33 billion streams, which is more than Drake and Sheeran.
4. The Weekend
With 30.4 billion streams, the artist who had the hit “Blinding Lights” moved up to fourth place. The Weeknd has 30 billion lead streams, which is more than any other singer. This makes him one of the most popular music artists in the world.
5. Ariana Grande
Even though Ariana Grande hasn’t put out a new song or record this year, her “7 Rings” song has been played 30 billion times on Spotify. 6. Justin Bieber
With 29 billion lead plays, Justin Bieber is now in sixth place. Six of his songs have already been played a billion times. As of press time, the person who made the song “Sorry” had reached a peak of 94.68 million weekly listeners on Spotify, which was more than ever before. His song “Ghost,” which came out in 2021, was also a big part of him becoming the first solo male artist to have 10 number-one tracks on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart.
7. Eminem
By making Spotify’s Top Artists list, the Rap God showed that he is one of the most popular musicians of all time. Before he worked with Polo G and Mozzy on Skylar Grey’s “Last One Standing” for “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” Eminem’s last record, “Music to Be Murdered By,” sold a lot of copies. With 27.52 billion streams, he was seventh.

8. Taylor Swift
Swift is the most talked-about act on the list, and she already has 27.5 billion streams before a busy year. She also broke several records on the music streaming site. Guinness World Records recognized her for having the most album streams on the first day by a female artist.
9. Post Malone
Post Malone placed ninth on Spotify’s Top Artists list with 24 billion lead streams before the release of his fourth studio album, “Twelve Carat Toothache.” As of press time, he has eight songs on Spotify that have each been played more than a billion times, 54 songs that have been played 100 million times, and 65 songs that have been played 10 million times.

10. BTS
With 24 billion views, BTS was last on the list. The K-pop supergroup’s song “Dynamite” reached 1 billion plays on Spotify last year. This year, Spotify gave the song official recognition. The company sent them a trophy that was mostly made up of bibimbap.
